newsletter #72 - menu specials, a roof-top garden, & a local farm
Hey Everyone,
Ah yes, it's spring… the beginning of the best time of year for us because we can start using the freshest, local veggies as soon as they're in-season.
And thanks to spring, we're busting out 4 new seasonal specials today - The Monty, Spring Salad, grilled zucchini, and strawberry-rhubarb shakes.
But, we're not just serving seasonal veggies this spring, we're also trying to grow some of our own again. (That's as long as Josh, our Brookline manager, doesn't fall off the ladder he uses to water the garden on the roof of our restaurant.)
Yes, for the 2nd year in a row, we have a weird roof-top garden. And we have it because of our urban-farming family members at Green City Growers. (This year, our garden is twice the size and already has some nice Swiss chard.) Since you'll most likely never see it (unless you're willing to climb a rickety ladder, scale a wall, and walk on the roof of an old, former gas station), we made this video of our garden for you.
But, that won't be the only farm that one of our family members (and their guest) sees this spring. That's because our friends at Pineland Farms, the Co-Op of local, family farms that provides all our beef, has given our kin a free night's stay in one of their beautiful guest houses. If you'd like to spend a weekend in Maine, just tell us why you want to visit a local farm.
After you watch our video and enter our contest, come see us and our new menu specials today.
To try to make sure you do, we're giving our family free grilled zucchini or a free strawberry-rhubarb shake with the purchase of any burger, sandwich, or salad. To get yours, just print out this email (or show it to us on your phone), come by any b.good anytime today, May 20th, AND BUY ANY BURGER, SANDWICH, OR SALAD.
No copies or forwards. Violators aren't just subject to paying for their zucchini or strawberry-rhubarb shake. They're subject to Jessie, Anna, and Ben, the urban farmers who built and maintain our garden. They don't just do all the back-breaking labor, they do it in exchange for free burgers. It's that kind of irrational commitment to house-ground steak that makes this green-thumbed trio more than qualified to administer beat-downs upon any of the freeloaders who try to take advantage of our love for family.
As always, if you know anyone who likes gardens or farms or anyone else who wants to be loved like family, forward this and tell them to join ours.
Anthony & Jon
P.S. Making the greatest fast-food restaurant on Earth doesn't happen without lots of help from the people who care about you. So, we've enlisted 2 of our most loyal kinfolk who own their own market research company. And on Tuesday, we'll be asking for your help when we send you the survey they put together for us.
P.P.S. Our dream of spending the summer driving around in an ice cream truck passing out free shakes became a reality yesterday. Yes, thanks to the magic of Facebook, this b.good family member learned about our dream and actually offered to trade us his broken-down, giant, yellow ice cream truck for free food for life and $1,500. Now, we just need to get it to work, pimp it out with flames and b.good logos, and give it a proper name. We'll be asking you to help with that last part soon.
P.P.P.S. If you'd be willing help a local charity by eating locally-raised burgers, drinking locally-made beer, and listening to live local music , then please clear your calendar on July 18th. This summer, our annual family BBQ is finally moving from the outhouse to the penthouse. Details coming as soon as we nail down logistics.
