newsletter #61 - King Louie is born
Hey Everyone,
Our family has voted, the MIT lab has kicked us out, and the sign guys have printed the huge sticker of our champ's face.
So, that means our new, indestructible shake-making rickshaw has a name and is finally street-ready.
And it's all thanks to 2 very special men.
The first is Jason, the b.good family member who named our new monster-baby, "King Louie".
The second is Louie, the 3-wheeling-kamikaze who inspired our champ. (Yes, our 5-wheeled love-machine is named after a man who races around the city on a tricycle while screaming "OOGGHH! OOGGHH!" at the top of his lungs. And yes, there could never, ever be a better name for our new baby.)
And since that perfect name is the result of the work of 2 great men, we're giving both of them free shakes for the summer. (We have no idea how to get in touch with Louie, though. So, if you do or if you can stop him without being crushed by his tricycle, please tell him to come see us. And while you're at it, take your picture with him. If you bring it in, email or upload it on facebook or twitter any time in July, we'll blend you up a free shake.)
But, King Louie isn't the only beautiful, new thing we're welcoming into our lives right now.
Today, we're making a new, "special" salad with local strawberries, locally-made goat cheese, baby spinach, baby arugula, caramelized onions, and candied walnuts.
We're also grilling up a new side of "seasonal veggies". This week, it's local bok choy that we're grilling and tossing with sesame seeds and homemade sesame-ginger sauce. (All the strawberries and bok choy are fresh from Dick's Market Garden, a nice, little farm in Lunenberg, MA.)
And thanks to a persuasive email from family member, Melissa, our gluten-intolerant customers won't have to eat another bun-less house-ground burger ever again. So, if you know anyone with Celiac Disease, tell them we have gluten-free buns.
To celebrate all this new, special stuff, we're blending free "special" shakes for our family all day today. (Elizel, our Back Bay line cook, has concocted a recipe that blends pineapples, blueberries, natural juice and frozen yogurt.)
To drink his pineapple-blueberry shake for free, just print this email (or show it to us on your phone), come see us anytime today, June 25th, AND BUY ANY BURGER, SANDWICH, OR SALAD.
No copies or forwards. Violators aren't just subject to paying for their shake. They're subject to Anna, the Brookline High School lunch-lady who helped us work the grill and sell our burgers every week in her cafeteria. Now that she's on summer break, Anna has time to focus her attention and her hand-to-hand-combat skills upon any freeloader who tries to impersonate our kinfolk.
As always, if you know anyone who likes shakes, rickshaws, or knows how to get in touch with Louie or anyone else who wants to be loved like family, forward this and tell them to join ours.

P.P.S. The Weekly Dig ran a nice piece yesterday about our Brookline burger palace's roof-top farm.
