newsletter #63 - suburbs, shoes, & shakes
Hey Everyone,
We're not scared of too much anymore. (From burning ourselves on 500 degree stoves and walking into flooded restaurants at 4 in the morning to neighbors who want to kill us because they hate free fry coupons, we've seen lots of crazy stuff over the last 6 years.)
Lately though, the nerves have been acting up because we are about to have another little baby.
Yes, in a few weeks, a new baby b.good will be unleashed in Dedham. And it's going to be the most beautiful one yet.
Sometime in early September, it'll be born in the amazing, new, retail-Promised Land called Legacy Place. (Ironically, the development is built on the same site as the old Dedham movie theater that we used to sneak into together every weekend 20 years ago. Yes, we'd spend days hoping from movie to movie in the summer. And yes, we were very sad. Jon even went on his first date there. That relationship ended in a punch to Jon's face, something we still don't completely understand. Anthony never went on dates because he was a scary 230 lb. monster, but he still loved that movie theater.)
So, it's time to put our fear aside and bring our little restaurant home to the town we went to high school in. It's time to tell our friends and family that they will not see or hear from us for the next few months and to put the final touches on converting this empty store-front into a glorious, new b.good. Yes, it's time to get ready to unleash our 5th baby upon the suburbs southwest of Boston.
As soon as it's ready, we'll invite you to a family-only, all-you-can-eat, pre-opening celebration. (Since a lot of you won't be able to come support us out there, you can still show you care by spreading the word to your suburban-dwelling friends and by sending us any ideas you can think of for our new baby b.good by replying to this email. We'd love any help we can get from our family.)
And while caring for the new baby may make us nervous, our physical appearance is temporarily no longer a source of anxiety.
That's because the old-school sneaker company, KangaROOS, has outfitted every single member of team b.good in beautiful new kicks. (While it didn't seem possible for him to get any hotter, even our crazy delivery-driver, Marco, looks more handsome in ROOS.)
The best part is that ROOS doesn't just want us to wear them. They want our family to wear them too.
To get your free pair, just tell us why you want some ROOS. By the end of next week, 10 lucky family members will be wearing sneakers with pouches-on-the-side.
And beautiful shoes aren't the only thing we're giving our family.
Yes, we got plenty of juicy, local peaches from Dick's Market Garden to blend today in an effort to raise money for Paul, a b.good family member who is the president of MitoAction and whose son suffers from a horrible thing called mitochondrial disease.
To drink your local peach shake, you don't even have to print this out. Just come visit us today, August 20th, from 2-5pm, and donate whatever you'd like for that shake. (100% of the proceeds… yes, every last cent, goes directly to Paul's cause.)
As always, if you know anyone who lives in or near Dedham, likes sneakers with pouches on the side, or anyone else who wants to be loved like family, forward this and tell them to join ours.
Anthony & Jon
P.S. Over the last couple of weeks, we've served nearly all the tomatoes we grew on our Brookline roof. So, on Tuesday, our nice kinfolk at Green City Growers switched tomatoes and red leaf lettuce for spinach, beets, and chard for the fall.
