Why El Guapo?
In the summer of 2006, we offered up free burgers for a year to the customer who could give use the best name for our new bacon-jalapeno-ranch burger.
And in the weirdest outcome in burger-naming-contest history, we awarded 2 of our beloved b.good family members 365 straight days of free burger pleasure.
Andy Mutz and his "El Jefe" burger unofficially won the competition since, as he put it, "Pigs are my favorite animal, so I enjoy referring to them as the boss. I also like referring to them as the boss in Spanish. El Jefe is also the name of the bad boss in the Three Amigos, and his sidekick says 'I am still here El Jefe' right before the Amigos take him out, which is something I would say to this burger right before I eat it."
But, just as we were ready to forever call our new burger "El Jefe", b.good customer Ryan Fitzgerald, emailed us this:
"El Jefe' is quite simply not the name of the evil Three Amigos' boss, but the name of his sidekick. As any Three Amigos fan worth his salt will tell you, the evil boss' name is 'El Guapo'. We all remember the Three Amigos speech about how, in life, we all deal with our own personal 'El Guapos'. For some people, it's illiteracy. For others, it's standardized tests. For me, it's crappy, chain, fast-food burgers that make me sick, unlike b.good's all-natural, hand-packed patties of deliciousness...I would also like to offer that should this name be changed to El Guapo, the individual who submitted El Jefe be the one rewarded as his submission was the inspiration behind the name. I simply wanted to set the record straight. I am perfectly content to spend all of my life's savings buying El Guapos."
